Marco Rinaldi, Tech Lead from Italy

What led you to pursue a career as a developer and engage with AWS Training and Certification?

When AWS was introduced in Italy in 2015, I was already working as a web developer. My company encouraged me to enhance my cloud skills, so I started exploring what AWS had to offer. I recognized its potential and suggested to my employer that we be the first in Italy to partner with AWS to provide various services. This was the beginning of my certification journey.

This opportunity was perfect for me, as I have always been fascinated by technology—a passion ignited during my time at my father’s computer shop. Today, AWS Training enriches my understanding and equips me with the knowledge I need as a cloud architect.

What insights did you gain from this experience beyond cloud development?

I learned that it’s never too late to pursue your passions. Although I began my journey a bit later in my career, with the right guidance, I transformed myself into an expert. It’s akin to my skiing experience; I didn’t learn as a child but took a trip as an adult and struggled initially. I found an instructor whose focus was to help me navigate the slopes confidently. His mentorship boosted my confidence, and now I love skiing whenever I can. That first experience on the slopes felt much like starting my first certification—daunting but filled with potential.

It’s crucial to approach AWS with passion. Treating it as more than just work can make the learning process enjoyable and devoid of pressure.

What has been your most fulfilling experience since beginning your AWS Training?

I worked with a retail client gearing up for Black Friday, aware that their ecommerce platform would face significant strain. They identified a capacity issue but couldn’t pinpoint the cause. We quickly diagnosed the problem and implemented a solution, ensuring their application ran smoothly and customers enjoyed an excellent experience. There was no downtime and no loss of revenue. Knowing that we alleviated their stress before it turned into a serious issue was incredibly rewarding. That was the moment I understood the real-world impact of my knowledge.
